Considered to be the top management school of India, and one of the toughest B-school in the world to get into, the Indian Institute of Management - Calcutta was founded in 1961 and boasts of its prestigious and highly rigorous curriculum. The program nurtures world-class managers by exposing them to real life unstructured situations along with analytical tools and business philosophies. Students gain conceptual insights into managerial decision-making while fine tuning their interpersonal skills.

Courses:

Post Graduate Program (PGP) Management is 2 year, full-time residential program that allows students the time and pace to discover their area of interest. Other programs offered are -
1. Postgraduate Program for Executives - One Year Full Time (PGPEX)
2. Postgraduate Diploma in Computer aided Management - Two Years (PGDCM)
3. Postgraduate Diploma in Management- Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing (PGPEX-VLM)
4. Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM)
5. Fellow Programme in Management (FPM)
6. Executive Program in Business Management - One Year Part Time (EPBM)

Admissions:

IIMs conduct their own entrance test, known as the CAT, which is used to evaluate an applicant's eligibility for the program. Based on the overall profile of the candidate and his/her CAT scores, invitations for group discussions and personal interviews are sent to selected set of candidates.

Class Profile:
IIM Kolkata 2009 class consisted of 43% freshers and 32% students with 0-24 months of work experience.

Timeline:
The CAT is usually held in November each year.

Course Fee:
Fees for 2008-10 program are approx. Rs. 7,00,000.

Placements:
